Seesmic and Travel. And invites.

I have mixed feelings about Seesmic. Sometimes it seems like an over-hyped, Geek Industry fan-boy product, destined to fail due to a crappy interface.

Seesmic continues to add features. More importantly, Seesmic seems to be integrating the people/culture/vibe of the social media web. The gatekeepers are there, and normal people are using it. Community is the key, and Seesmic seems to be building the neighborhood in the right way.

In March I leave for a week or so in the Sudan, then some time in Europe. I’ll be traveling with a few radio show hosts, as well as a humanitarian group. We’ll be reporting on the violence and humanitarian situation. Facilitating in the creation traditional media (radio) will be a primary goal. Using social media tools, however, will also a very important part of the trip.

With these travels, as well as the up coming presidential campaign in mind, I mention Seesmic because of it’s small but growing industry profile, it’s community, and it’s portability. It’s my hope to record videos on the fly in weird locations.

For the time being I’m going to play the role of evangelist. If you’d like an invite code, email me.

Also, here’s a Seesmic video about, uh, Seesmic.
