Google, YouTube and the 2008 Election

There is a very interesting post over on Read/Write Web regarding Google, YouTube, and the 2008 presidential election.

Writer Josh Catone notes that in addition to donating $288,000 to candidates during the last election cycle, Google has aggressively pursued candidates to purchase campaign ads via AdWords, and post exclusive content to YouTube’s YouChoose campaign page. Read / Write Web quotes the San Jose Mercury News‘ assertion that next year Google/YouTube will co-sponsor a presidential debate.

What does Google’s venture into politics mean for both the horse race, and for the public? You thoughts?

Creepy Sleepy aggregates much of YouTube’s political campaign videos on Choose or Snooze Campaign Coverage.

I tried listening to your show and my ears started bleeding. I was going to go eat some pudding and you ruined it. So cool to see how people I knew in high school are doing. Is the dude in all your pictures your gay lover? How you doin’? Where are you? I figured you’d still be a commie. You gotta be, if you think Hannity’s a douche. How could you be that close to greatness and still standing? :) I wonder where Kelly Sopher is. It’d be so cool to find her and see how she is. Anyway, gotta jet! Visit my blog sometime. I like to get people all riled up.

I tried listening to my own show and my ears started to bleed. Then, I realized, that ‘User Generated Content’ is the future! And it sucks! The future sucks! So do podcasts! God is deck! Creepy Sleepy is milktoast! Snacks!

you should do a show all about kids’ toys. care bears and my little pony and such. I would listen then.

Okay. But only if Sean Hannity rocks one out with a care bare on record.

I think fox news should put out an album, like the simpsons did however many years ago. O’reilly could rap. Hannity’s soulfull pipes could send shivers down the spines of american women. Brit Hume could write subtle self-congratulatory liner notes.

Good to see/read you, Rach…

As a follow-up on Google’s relationship with American politics, I just found an interesting segment during last week’s On The Media.

Quentin,
You’re forgetting Coulter. Is this THE Quentin from Wash? Your mom served me a heavy sentence for speeding down 1st avenue in a blaze of glory.

Oh, and you guys are SO brainwashed by CNN (Communist News Network)

Its all about the indie community. Rant brought a little tear to my eye.

Ahhhhh, thanks Todd! I got all misty, but dude, the indies are keeping it real. We gotta stay tight to protect ourselves from the big boys.

… and Adam’s unwanted advances, but that’s a different story ;)
