Open Source Radio Colbert Discussion
Open Source Radio recently hosted a fantastic discussion regarding the political and social implications of Stephen Colbert’s roasting of President Bush and the aloof Western Media.
While some in the Main Stream Media have attempted to dismiss Colbert’s performance as ‘unfunny,’ the general consensus seems to be that Colbert’s performance was more than entertainment, but socially and politically important.
In short, Colbert called the President and the Media on their failings. Which is, of course, completely unfunny.

Indeed. The point made during the show (and Stewart has made this several times) that it takes a ‘fake news’ show on a commedy channel to provoke discussion in the country.
Regardless as to what one thinks of the Colbert and/or the Daily Show, their influence is undeniable. Most telling, I believe, is how well they illuminate failings of ‘real’ journalists.
Lydon has never been objective on his show, but that’s one reason I listen. He is, however, always thoughtful, intelligent and respectful - traits severly lacking by most pundits.
Hello all on creepysleepy.com! This is always a touchy subject for me and my boyfriend. He believes that women should not make as much as man if she is going to have to leave her job when she gets pregnant.
Now I agree I think its important to take off even after a baby is born and take care of your child, however, I dont see how we should be penalized for it.

I checked it out. Nice conversation. While Lydon clearly revealed his opinion on it, it was nice to hear some of the more middle ground opinions of the issue.
It’s amazing how much truth and power comedians like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert wield in such a domesticated media-scape.
